National Museum Grão Vasco

Established in 1916, the Nacional Museum Grão Vasco was created to preserve Portuguese cultural, historical and archaeological heritage and with the added purpose invigorate the region of Viseu. The museum celebrated in 2016 the year of its centenary with a vast program of exhibitions, artistic events, educational and editorial initiatives throughout the year, and a concert of the Chorus of the National Theater of São Carlos on the most relevant day in the celebrations.
These celebrations were an opportunity to publicize the heritage and skills of Viseu in the management of cultural events, and to promote the internationalization of the Museum and the city.
