assumes itself as an agent of value creation in society, in the various areas of its intervention, assuming a clear commitment to support the development of the communities in which it operates.

In this sense, it seeks to support initiatives of cultural, scientific and social interest that align with the values of Millennium bcp and simultaneously satisfy some of the main needs identified in these three areas of activity, in Portugal and in other countries where Millennium bcp develops its activity.

The Millennium bcp Foundation considers the preservation of the Cultural Heritage as one of its most important strategic areas of action.

Culture

Culture is assumed by the Foundation as its main area of activity, in which it has positioned itself as patron of several projects in the field of arts and in the preservation of the historical and architectural heritage, namely, the museums heritage, an essential component of the national identity. It has also supported initiatives related to modern and contemporary art and events that emphasize artistic interdisciplinarity and the sharing of culture with diverse audiences. The Foundation is also responsible for publicize Millennium bcp’s artistic heritage.

Science and
Knowledge

Science and education are fundamental for the construction of a developed society and for the exercise of a responsible and informed citizenship, reason why the Foundation has been reinforcing its collaboration with diverse educative projects, of scientific investigation and of diffusion of the knowledge, through support for post-graduate programs at Portuguese universities of reference and research projects in the field of child health.

Social Solidarity

With the purpose of promoting initiatives that stimulate the development of a favorable social context, the Foundation supports actions from different entities, covering several areas of intervention, such as childhood, adolescence, poverty, disability, among others, supporting crosswise the weakest sections of the population and promoting the efficient management of available resources and their sustainability to third sector entities.

Regarding the preservation of cultural heritage, besides supporting projects for the Promotion and Recovery of Artistic and Historical Heritage, the Foundation is responsible for the management and maintenance of the Archaeological Center of Rua dos Correeiros, classified as a National Monument, and is also responsible for organizing visits.

Regarding the promotion and diffusion of Art, especially in relation to Fine Arts, the Foundation signed a partnership agreement with the DGPC – Directorate General of Cultural Heritage and the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. establishes the promotion and diffusion of artistic heritage and cultural activities in the National Museum of Contemporary Art. This protocol provides for exhibitions by the Millennium bcp Foundation in a space of this National Museum.
