National Palace of Ajuda

After the earthquake of 1755, with the destruction of the Palace of Lisbon, the construction of a new Palace became urgent. The Real Palace of Nossa Senhora da Ajuda, located on top of Ajuda Hill in Lisbon, became habitable after 1761, becoming the Court’s residence. Its rehabilitation is one of the support of Millennium bcp Foundation in the scope of the recovery of cultural heritage in Portugal. This partnership contributed to the restoration of the Chapel of D. Maria, from the frescoes of the Sala D. João IV, to reinforce the sign design, the renovation of stalls and showcases.
