In addition to managing the Portuguese Olympic participations, the Portuguese Olympic Committee organizes the Sports Sciences Awards, an anual initiative that to encourage the development of quality scientific research in the field of sports. This prize invites Portuguese researchers to present their work in three thematic areas: in the odd years the subjects are “sports training”, “psychology and pedagogy in sport” and “medicine in sport”; in the even-numbered years are “physiology and biomechanics in sport”, “economics, law and management in sport” and “history and sociology of sport”.

The Foundation has signed a collaboration protocol for 2018, 2019 and 2020.
