National Museum of Archeology

The National Museum of Archeology was founded by Doctor José Leite de Vasconcelos in 1893 and today assumes an important role in the restoration and conservation of national archaeological goods, in the organization of courses and events of the specialty and possession of the most important specialized library in the country. In addition to its enormous value as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this museum presents the initial collection of its founder and of Estacio de Veiga. The Museum is also composed of articles that go back to the origins of human settlement, covering all regions of Portugal. The patronage support granted by the Millennium bcp Foundation contributed to the preservation of the archaic jewelery collection in the museum.
