The Choir of the Little Singers of the Jerónimos Monastery was born with the visit of the Holy Father to Portugal in May 2010 and the enthusiasm surrounding the initiative led to the organization of a permanent children’s choir in June, which aims to respond to the oldest traditions of the Church in the integration of children in Christian communities. These small singers had the opportunity to participate in the 40th International Congress “Cantate Spem Vestram”, a meeting that fosters the sharing of knowledge and friendship between choirs in different countries.
The Millennium bcp Foundation collaborated with the initiative of the Association World Monuments Fund Portugal for the conservation of the Abóbodas of the Church of the Jerónimos Monastery, a work of João Castilho and a representation of Manuelino style in Portugal.
